The Ramblings of a Tired Teacher
My attempt at poetry
For the past ten months, I’ve been making every effort to improve my grammar. I then started writing poems, and I broke every grammar rule. I’ve been dabbling with poetry, but the last time I wrote poems was in high school.
Haiku poems are 5 syllables, 7 syllables, and 5 syllables. Well, here is my fourth attempt. I broke the rule, but I got what I needed to say. Here is my three-line poem.
Living with you is all I think about
I miss you
All I think about is you
My dear sweet friend,
When we talked, that wedding night in February changed my life forever. I had just broken up with my girlfriend and knew I needed time to heal, but I knew you were the one.
I can’t wait to be home on Kauai.
This school year has been a blur. I miss you so much. I committed to being at my school for my 24th year, but I’m unsure if there will be a 25th.
I’m not sure what the future holds. All I know is I want you in it.
I’m writing this before my prep period to process my thoughts. I have six periods of ungraded tests sitting on my desk for two weeks.
I know work is important, but I can think of no other place I would rather be than at home on Kauai with you. I’ll see you and talk to you soon.
